Taizhou Changlong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a Zhejiang-based shipyard with over 30 years of maritime expertise, has unveiled its innovative RoPax (Roll-on/Roll-off Passenger) ferry design tailored for high-demand Asian coastal operations. The new vessel class combines advanced hybrid propulsion technology with passenger-centric amenities to address the growing need for sustainable and efficient island transportation solutions in regions like Southeast Asia and the East China Sea.

The ferry design features a LNG-electric hybrid power system co-developed with Chinese energy partners, reducing carbon emissions by up to 25% compared to conventional diesel models. With capacity for 350 passengers and 40 vehicles, the vessel incorporates streamlined hull optimization through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) testing, achieving 15% improved fuel efficiency during sea trials. Passenger comfort is enhanced through noise-reduction engineering, smart climate control systems, and accessible boarding ramps compliant with international safety standards.

Taizhou Changlong's engineering team will present technical specifications and scale models at the upcoming Asian Maritime Exhibition in October, highlighting the design's adaptability for various operational environments including short-haul island connections and urban waterway transit. The company is currently seeking partnerships with ferry operators and government transportation agencies to deploy these vessels across key maritime routes.
